In a Field of Lavender

When Serge called us from New York City and in the thickest of French accents inquired about a cruck frame for his lavender farm on Long Island, I knew we could be in for a grand adventure. Serge said our work reminded him of the timbered lavoirs of his childhood in France. Indeed, I was to learn about lavoirs, as well as Long Island zoning committees, engineering for a hurricane zone, the cost of cranes near NYC, the many varieties and uses of lavender, bee-keeping techniques, & the pleasure of good wine with lunch in a sunny field of lavender.
