Timber frame pavilion in Erie, Pennsylvania

A Cruck for the Big BackYard

SafeNet is a 30 year-old non-profit in Erie, Pennsylvania which provides sanctuary and a range of services to victims of domestic violence.

Many children spend time in SafeNet’s shelters.  And the Big BackYard is a natural playground created by SafeNet and their many supporters to provide a safe green space for those children, and their caretakers, to play and relax out-of-doors.

Landscape architect Dan Dahlkemper spearheaded the playground’s design and reached out to us for a pavilion concept.  We then worked closely with Erie-based architect Adam Trott and SafeNet’s leadership on the details.  It was an honor (and a lot of fun) to be involved in this community endeavor.
